A Suspension modification, often done by Jeep, truck, SUV and offroad enthusiasts is performed to raise the ride height of their vehicle. Suspension lifts (also referred to as lift kits or leveling kits) enable steeper approach, departure, and breakover angles, higher ground clearance, and helps accommodate larger wheels and tires. Due to the raised center of gravity, maximum safe operating angles are reduced and roadholding is often significantly impaired with a lift kit.

Kits can be as simple as lift blocks (spacers placed between the axles and leaf springs) and coil spring/strut spacers and extended shocks; to replacement control arms, trailing arms, and custom four-link systems. Suspension lifts also impact other factors, such as drive shaft length, steering geometry and brake lines. Legality is often an issue when installing suspension lifts, as many jurisdictions have varying laws on vehicle ride height and placement of lights and bumpers.

Eventually Hendrickson sold the truck manufacturing operation to focus solely on suspension systems and related components.

Today, Hendrickson is comprised of state-of-the-art facilities, technical centers and manufacturing centers, in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Austria, Romania, Turkey, India, China and Australia.

At Hendrickson, they commit to serving the transportation industry with innovative products that help improve productivity and profitability. Across the globe, their dedicated employees champion Hendrickson’s proud heritage through creativity, integrity and superior service. The Hendrickson legacy embodies 100 years as the leading innovator and manufacturer of suspension systems and components for the global heavy-duty vehicle industry.

SuperSprings are a unique and patented self-adjusting suspension stabilizing system for vehicles with rear leaf springs, designed to level loads and reduce body roll. SuperSprings provide users extra load support and reduce body roll without compromising ride quality. They are manufactured using a variety of different sized springs to support multiple applications. All SuperSprings are manufactured in the U.S.A. from SAE5160H high grade, shot peened steel.

  • Are manufactured from SAE 5160H (51% alloy, 60% carbon) high-grade steel, shot peened to relieve spring stress and extend product life.
  • Use a dual-roller shackle. The shackle has an inner roller and an outer roller. As the factory springs extend to the rear, the roller facilitates the movement.
  • Installations can be completed in less than an hour. Installation does not require disassembly of factory spring assemblies.
  • Automatically activate as loads are applied. They work when they need to without the need for manual adjustments.
  • Reduce rear end sag and sway without compromising ride quality. They reduce body roll and provide greater driver control.
  • Work in conjunction with original equipment rear leaf spring suspension systems. They enhance the total suspension system.
  • Are a solution to suspension complaints such as: sag, sway, and uneven loads. They’re used in a variety of applications.

Silent Drive

In the early ’50s tag axles were gaining in popularity, but it soon became apparent that they lacked in traction. In an effort to address this problem, a company was started in 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa, producing large pulleys to be installed between the dual tires of the drive axle and tag axle. By connecting these pulleys with a large V-belt, the drive axle powered the tag axle.

Since the tag axle was powered by silent V-belts instead of noisy gears, the company was called Silent Drive. By the early 70’s, Silent Drive’s suspension lifts were edging out V-belt drives in the marketplace, creating an opportunity to expand product lines, and soon required more space in the factory. In 1974, a new plant was built in Orange City, Iowa, and all operations were moved to this new location.

Since that time, Silent Drive has been the innovative leader in the suspension industry. They were the first to use automatic leaf spring-lifts in the suspension. Additionally, the professionals at Silent Drive pioneered the concept of unitizing the suspension to an axle for a complete, ready-to-install system.

The underarm air spring lift concept was developed by the Silent Drive engineering team, and has been adopted by nearly every suspension manufacturer in the nation. Commitment to quality and innovation keeps Silent Drive one step ahead of their competition.

Silent Drive has grown from a regional manufacturer, supplying products primarily for the agricultural market, to an industry leader, manufacturing air suspensions for liftable tags and pushers, drive axle suspensions, as well as primary and auxiliary lift axles on trailers. Using state of the art technology like Pro-E and Finite Element Analysis for design and testing also allows us to provide custom built systems tailored to specific needs or applications.

Expect the most complete product line, capacities from 10,000 to 30,000 pounds, axle lifts from 6″ to 18″, patented Uroflex pull arm bushings, and excellent customer service from the industry leader. Silent Drive’s reputation for a quality product at a fair price has carried their business across the United States and into Canada. Experience, adaptability, innovative leadership, and commitment to quality keeps Silent Drive a step ahead of the competition.

When you Demand the best in Durability and Roll Stability, go with NEWAY. NEWAY’s Air-Ride Suspension is available in two distinct types:

The ADZ: Heavy-Duty Drive Axle Air Suspension

From the company that pioneered air-ride suspensions for the heavy-duty truck market over fifty years ago comes the most innovative in air-ride suspension technology. The industry’s toughest air-ride suspension, now with new design versatility, making it light enough for over-the-road applications, and much more:

  • Concrete – You need a stable suspension for high center of gravity loads.   You also want it to weigh less so you can carry more.
  • Construction – You need a stable suspension for shifting loads.  You also want reliability and a strong warranty to back it up.
  • Fire Response – You need a stable suspension for shifting water and ladders while cornering.  You need a durable suspension that can last.
  • Heavy Haul – You need a stable suspension for extreme loads.   You also want to reduce maintenance to a minimum.  Your trucks need to be working.
  • Logging – You need a stable suspension with good articulation that can grip rutted, muddy roads.  You also want it to weigh less so you can carry more.
  • Mining – You need a stable suspension for steep grades and shifting loads.  You also want it to weigh less so you can carry more.
  • Municipal – Your budget is tight, so you want to reduce maintenance costs.  You also want reliability and a strong warranty to back it up.
  • Oil & Gas – You need a durable suspension that offers enhanced roll stability for extreme loads.
